We recommend defragging your computer at least once a month for best results. This is useful if you dont want to have to remember to do it, or you want to avoid waiting until your computer has issues to defragment.

If you cannot run Defrag from DOS directory, go to the Windows directory by typing CD\Windows. You can choose to have your computer defrag regularly and automatically.
However, various third-party companies offer utilities that Defrag and check your hard drive for you. Windows also supports running Defrag from the Windows command line. Click the Tools tab and click the Defragment now button. Right-click the highlighted local drive and select Properties. Highlight the local hard disk C: drive by clicking it once. Windows NT is not shipped with Microsoft Defrag. Double-click the My Computer icon or open Explorer. In the Start menu's search bar, type defragment, then click Defragment and Optimize Drives. Accessing and changing this schedule is easy to do.
